Training & Ongoing Support
You don’t need to know the difference between R-38 and R-49 on day one. You don’t need to have ever stepped foot in an attic, unless you count the one time you pulled down the ladder, saw a shadow, and backed away slowly. Laurel Attic Insulation was built on a simple idea: the franchise owner runs a business, and we give you the playbook, the training, and the phone number to a real person who answers when you’re standing in a crawlspace wondering what comes next. No prior insulation experience required. We mean that, and the rest of this page explains exactly how it works.
Initial Training
Your first weeks with Laurel are structured, hands-on, and designed for someone who has never installed insulation or run a home-service route. Week one covers the trade itself: how to assess an attic, how to read a thermal boundary, how to choose between blown-in fiberglass, blown-in cellulose, or spray foam based on what the house actually needs. You’ll learn the language properly, the way we teach it: R-value is just a measurement of how well material resists heat flow. Vent baffles keep air moving so the roofline doesn’t sweat. Air sealing stops the holes before the insulation covers them. You’ll practice on real mock attics and ride along with a field trainer before you ever quote your first job.
After the trade foundation, you’ll spend time on the business side. Our software stack handles booking, scheduling, live arrival tracking, before-and-after photos, and digital invoicing. You’ll learn it in a classroom setting, then use it in field simulations until sending an invoice from your phone feels like checking the weather. Hiring and marketing are part of the same training block: how to find technicians who will show up in a clean uniform, how to run local ads without burning a budget, and how to price jobs so you’re competitive and profitable at the same time. By the end of initial training, you won’t be an insulation expert. You’ll be a Laurel owner who knows where every resource lives and who to call when a job throws something new at you.
Launch Support
Opening your doors is not a “here’s the keys, good luck” moment. Our launch team works with you for the weeks before and after your first day, starting with local marketing setup. We help you get listed where homeowners actually search, build your local presence around The Relay Visibility Guarantee, and set up the lead engine so calls come in from day one. You don’t need to write a single ad headline yourself unless you want to.
The first-jobs coaching is where launch support gets real. Your first attic assessment, your first quote, your first install, your first insulation removal: a field coach is available by phone or video for every one of them. You’ll send photos of the space, talk through the plan, and get a second set of eyes on the pricing before it goes to the homeowner. That’s the point, because a written price before any work starts is non-negotiable for us, and we want you confident in that number before you put it in front of a customer. Launch support runs until you’ve hit a steady rhythm, not until a calendar date passes.
Ongoing Support
After launch, you’re not handed a binder and wished well. Ongoing support is built into the Laurel model because the Relay Standard doesn’t maintain itself.
- Field coaching and quality audits: Regular ride-alongs and job-site reviews to keep installs clean, safe, and up to The Relay Standard.
- Marketing support: Ad templates, local campaign guidance, and seasonal promos built around the brand promise of live tracking and written pricing.
- Vendor relationships: Access to our national agreements with Owens Corning, Rockwool, Icynene, Demilec, CertainTeed, Johns Manville, Knauf, and GreenFiber, so you’re ordering from eight industry-trusted brands without negotiating each one yourself.
- Technology updates: Software improvements and new features roll out across the Relay Home Co. family, and you get them without having to source or manage anything.
- National brand campaigns: We run campaigns that build awareness for The Relay Visibility Guarantee, which means homeowners already know what a live arrival time and a digital invoice mean before you knock.
- A live human on the phone, 24/7: When you call support, a person answers. No voicemail, no callback queue, no ticket number. That’s the standard we promise customers, and we hold ourselves to it too.
